New Zealand No 2 golfer Emily Perry has missed qualifying for the Ladies British Open Amateur Championship by one shot at the Carnoustie Links in Scotland.
The 21-year-old from the Lochiel Golf Club, who opened with a 12 over par 84, bounced back well in round two with a three over par 75 at the Open Championship venue.
She began the second round well with a birdie and made the turn in two over par 38 after three bogeys. Perry rallied well on the back nine to get back to even for the day through 15 holes, and inside the cut line, before she made a costly double bogey on 16 and bogey on 17 to miss by one.
The New Zealand stroke play champion finished on a 15 over par total, one shot behind seven players who finished tied on 14 over par. England's Emilee Taylor won the final spot as she won on a count back with her second round 75 the best score out of those seven players.
If Perry had shot 74 to finish on 14 over for the two rounds she would have progressed to the final 64.
