New Zealand rookie golf professional James Gill is through to British Open final qualifying after shooting an even par 73 in regional qualifying in Essex overnight (NZT).
Hundreds of players took place in regional qualifying tournaments at 16 clubs around the United Kingdom today, with 96 players going through to final qualifying on July 6-7 at Glasgow Golf Club , Kilmarnock and Western Gailes.
The starting field for each of those tournaments will be 96 players, with four qualification places from each venue into the British Open at Turnberry from July 16-19.
The Hamilton player, who is based at St Andrews in Scotland, plays on Europe's developmental EuroPro Tour.
