SYDNEY - Wellington's Gareth Paddison acquitted himself well against Australia's best amateur golfers, finishing in a tie for third at the Riversdale Cup tournament in Melbourne yesterday.
Paddison's fourth and final round was a two-under 70, leaving him five under, five shots behind Victorian Andrew Webster, who shot 71 to follow his third-round course-equalling record of 65.
Webster was three shots clear of Victorian Michael Cocking, with another two strokes back to Paddison, New South Wales' Scott Gardiner and Victorian Michael Light.
Carl Brooking, of Christchurch, shot 74 yesterday to place him nine over. Both Kiwis will be joined by six compatriots at the Australian amateur championships in Hobart on Saturday. - NZPA
