Top-drawer professional golf is coming back to Auckland.
The New Zealand PGA Championship will be staged at Remuera Golf Club from March 5-8 next year, one week before the New Zealand Open in Queenstown.
Remuera is slated to host the next two events, with Auckland chosen as the home for the Holden-sponsored championship, which will have prize money of $125,000.
"Playing it back to back with the New Zealand Open will help ensure a strong field for both events," said Duncan Simpson, chief executive of the PGA of New Zealand.
The Remuera course is undergoing a redevelopment programme. "It will further enhance its championship qualities over the next two to three years," club captain Rex Howe said.
