New Zealand's Simon Owen was two shots off the pace and Bob Charles a shot further back after the first round of the Senior British Open golf championship at Gullane, Scotland.
Owen managed a one-under 70 in the €1.5 million ($2.67 million) event at the Muirfield Golf links course, lying 11th equal alongside such players as Ben Crenshaw, Tom Watson, Jay Haas and Tom Kite. Charles was on 71, lying 23rd equal.
