New Zealand amateur golfers Ben Campbell and Landyn Edwards will contest the British Amateur Championship after making the field for the matchplay segment in northwest England this morning (NZT).
Campbell, New Zealand's No.1, carded a second round of 69 at the Hesketh Golf Club to follow his opening round of 73 and finish in a tie for fourth to book his place in the knockout stage.
Edwards, who led the 288-strong field after a 68 in his first round of strokeplay, slipped down the leaderboard with a four-over par 75 at the Hesketh to finish in a five-way share of 10th.
The field was reduced to 64 players and ties after two days of strokeplay and the final matchplay stage will be contested over four days at the Hillside Golf Club course near Southport.
The three other New Zealanders failed to qualify with Tyler Lock improving on his first round 76 with a 73 to finish two shots outside the total necessary to make the matchplay field. Daniel Pearce also went better in his second round with a 77 to follow his opening 79 and Fraser Wilkin's 77 was a four-shot improvement on his first round.
