Golf: NZ pair off the pace in Japan

New Zealand golfers David Smail and Richard Lee are well down the field after the first round on the Diamond Cup on the Japan Tour yesterday.

Smail carded a one-over 73 around the Umesato course at the Chiba Country Club, for a share of 59th, while Lee was a further shot back.

Korea's Do-Hoon Kim and the Japanese pair of Yui Ueda and Nobuhiro Masuda shared the lead after six-under 66s.
