New Zealand golfers Ben Campbell and Landyn Edwards are through to the third round of the British Amateur Championship in northwest England after winning their opening matchplay matches this morning (NZT).
Campbell, the New Zealand No.1, overcame leading Scottish amateur Conor O'Neil, but the match went to the final hole at the Hillside Golf Club near Southport with Campbell winning 1-up.
But the world's 25th ranked amateur was less than happy with his putting.
"I missed so many putts today, so I'll work on that before tomorrow, but I've been swinging it well for over a year now. It'll all come good, though - I'm sure of that," he said.
Rotorua's Edwards, whose four-under par 68 was the best round on the opening day of qualifying, downed 28-year-old Irishman James Fox 4 and 2.
Edwards faces Switzerland 23-year-old Marc Dobias in the round of 32 while Campbell meets Norway's Jaokim Mikkelsen.
