The New Zealand Open looks set to turn a profit for the first time since becoming a co-sanctioned European Tour event.
This year's tournament at Michael Hill's private course in Arrowtown has been hugely successful, with around 34,000 spectators turning up to watch over the four days.
Promoter Bob Tuohy said the turn out had been very good for the bottom line, although he is not sure how good it is, because he has blown his budget.
Tuohy said promoters are always exceeding budgets as it is the way it is in the business, but he is sure there will still be a profit.
Michael Hill has vowed to make the tournament even more successful with a clever marketing plan next year.
