KEY POINTS:
New Zealand golf fans are being warned not to expect the European high flyers at this year's New Zealand Open in Queenstown.
Sweden's Daniel Chopra has confirmed he will be returning for another crack at the Open, fresh from his maiden US PGA Tour victory in Florida earlier this week. He finished 12th in last year's New Zealand Open at Gulf Harbour.
While organisers are delighted the Swede is coming back down under, spokesman John Durning says the likes of Colin Montgomerie and Darren Clarke will not be here. Durning says the top golfers charge big appearance fees and it is simply not on their schedule. However, he says the likes of England's Nick Dougherty are definite possibilities.
Durning says they will not be able to confirm the field until the big tours wrap up. The Nationwide Tour has its last week this week while the US, European and Challenge tours are all coming to an end.
The New Zealand Open is being hosted by Michael Hill at his private course "The Hills" from November 29 to December 2.
