New Zealand golfer Gina Scott forced a playoff before losing on the first extra hole in the Spanish Open in Galicia yesterday.
Scott carded a closing round of three-under-par 69 for a nine-under 279, equal to that of eventual champion Stephanie Arricau, of France.
Arricau, who birdied five of the last six holes in regulation for a round of 71, parred the extra hole while Scott, 31, posted a bogey after missing a short putt.
Another New Zealander, Lynnette Brooky, finished fourth on 282 after shooting 70 yesterday.
Scott has had one win on the Ladies European Tour, at the 2000 Chart Hills Classic.
She earned €27,912 ($54,850) for her efforts, lifting her to 11th on the order of merit, one place above Brooky.
