World number one Rory McIlroy has broken his own course record at Quail Hollow, shooting a phenomenal 11-under par 61 to take control of the Wells Fargo Championship on the PGA Tour.
Coming into the day in a tie for fifth at seven-under par, McIlroy's sumptuous round has him four shots clear of American Webb Simpson, with Robert Streb a further three strokes back at 11-under.
Kiwi Danny Lee shot a second consecutive three-under par 69 to move up into a tie for 14th, giving him a good opportunity to garner important FedEx Cup and world ranking points tomorrow morning.
Fellow Kiwi Steven Alker shot an even-par 72 to be in a tie for 39th at three-under par for the tournament.
