New Zealand's No 1 amateur golfer Vaughan McCall has dropped 19 places to a share of 26th place at the Brabazon Trophy in England after carding a six-over par 78 at the Walton Heath Golf Club in round three overnight (NZT).
The 20-year-old, who opened with rounds of 73 and 75, will begin the final round on a 10-over par total 11 shots back from England's Neil Raymond who fired back to back rounds of 71 to claim the lead.
Earlier this year McCall became the first player in 24 years to win the New Zealand Stroke Play and the New Zealand Amateur in the same year.
He has enjoyed a successful first trip to the United Kingdom where he finished runner-up at the Wales Stroke Play and is looking for some results to confirm his selection in the New Zealand team to contest the Eisenhower in October.
Fellow New Zealand rep Blair Riordan missed the cut but McCall will be looking to improve on his share of 26th position in tomorrow's final round.
