New Zealand's Lydia Ko has fired a final round three-over 75 to miss out on a third major title after leading at the US Open with 10 holes to play.
Ko held a two-shot lead at eight under on the eighth tee before going bogey-double bogey to give up her lead. Two more bogeys on the back nine saw Ko give up her chance of becoming the youngest player in golf to win three major titles.
Ko finished up at four-under for the tournament in a share of third.
American Brittany Lang won the tournament after beating Sweden's Anna Nordqvist in a controversial three-hole playoff.
Nordqvist looked to have grounded her club in a bunker on the 17th hole but a ruling was not immediately made. It wasn't until after the Swede, who began the day six shots off the lead, played her third shot into the 18th hole that the two-shot penalty was confirmed.
