It was all going so well for Lydia Ko, in the first LPGA major of the year, until the final hole of the first round.
The struggling Kiwi star was among the early pace setters this morning in the ANA Inspiration in California until a double bogey on the final hole left her on two under, in ninth spot, and with a lot of the field still to get underway.
The ANA is one of the two major titles Ko has won — she triumphed in 2016. But changes of coaches, caddies, equipment and even her swing have led to a disintegration of her game and the former world number one is now ranked at 15 and falling after a winless 2017.
Japan's Ayako Uehara was the early leader at six under.
