Have you heard the one about the live shark that fell from the heavens onto a golf course in California?
It sounds like the beginning of a bad joke, but that's exactly what happened at San Juan Hills Golf Club on Tuesday (NZT).
A two-foot leopard shark fell from the sky and landed on the 12th tee box, bloodied but alive.
"It was just wriggling around," course director Melissa McCormack told the Capistrano Dispatch. "Honestly this is the weirdest thing that's happened here."
A course marshal picked it up, threw it in the back of his truck, and drove it back to the clubhouse where a cart attendant placed it in a bucket of water with some salt. Then it was driven to the ocean and released, only a little worse for wear.
