New Zealand Eisenhower Trophy linchpin Eddie Lee has comforting news for those who fear he might have already played his best golf in Asia.
The Christchurch teenager will partner Manawatu lefthander Tim Wilkinson and Te Awamutu's Brad Shilton in New Zealand's highly fancied lineup for the world amateur teams championship in Malaysia from October 24 to 27.
Lee has been in sizzling form, winning the MaeKyung Asian PGA Tour event in Seoul before victory in the Malaysian amateur and a runner-up finish at the Saujana amateur.
The 18-year-old promised he had plenty of birdies in the tank for the Eisenhower, to be played over two courses at the Saujana Golf and Country Club in Selangot, Malaysia.
"The word peak is not one I like," Lee said. "If you believe you can play well all the time, you will. I don't know what has promoted my game to the next level, but I'll take it. I'll just keep trying and trying."
He said the team were comfortable being compared to New Zealand's only successful Eisenhower team of 1992 - Phil Tataurangi, Michael Campbell, Stephen Scahill and Grant Moorhead.
