KEY POINTS:
New Zealand golfing star Danny Lee has left himself with work to do if he is to make the cut at his second PGA Tour appearance.
Lee, who in August became the youngest ever US amateur golf champion, was in the bottom half of the field before the close of play at the Turning Stone Resort Championship in Verona, New York, today after shooting a three-over par 75.
Lee hit two birdies and a bogey on the front nine, but added another four bogeys on the back.
The Rotorua High School 18-year-old said this week he was determined to finish the tournament strongly and wasn't there simply to make the cut.
Australia's Steve Allan led the charge early in the first round with a four-under par 68.
