Danny Lee is the best of the Kiwi golfers following the opening round of the Sony Open on the PGA Tour in Hawaii.
Lee carded a solid two-under 68 today courtesy of three birdies and a bogey to leave himself in a share of 32nd, six shots back from co-leaders Paul Casey and Webb Sampson who are out in front at eight-under.
The 24-year-old Lee has already registered two top-25 finishes this season on the PGA Tour and came in to this week's event in 21st on the FedEx Cup standings.
The tournament began in less inspiring fashion for Tim Wilkinson and Steven Alker as they both went over the card.
Manawatu's Wilkinson produced a one-over 71 and he finished the day in a tie for 94th after his round included two birdies and three bogeys.
