Kiwi golfer Danny Lee has made a strong start to the opening FedEx Cup playoff tournament sitting one shot off the lead at The Barclays tournament.
Lee fired a four-under 66 to lie in a share of fourth place, a shot behind the three leaders Bubba Watson, Spencer Levin and Camila Villegas.
The Barclays has a US$8.25m prize purse and is the first event of the four FedEx Cup playoff events.
Lee went into the tournament ranked 10th on the FedEx Cup standings.
Only the top 100 players in the FedEx Cup standings advance to the next event - the Duetsche Bank Championship, with the top 70 after that event playing at the BMW Championship before the final top 30 play at the season ending Tour Championship.
