Kiwi golfer Danny Lee has flown up the leaderboard at the Arnold Palmer Invitational on the PGA Tour in Orlando following a bogey-free eight-under 64 in his second round.
Lee began today in the middle of the pack but his eight birdies moved him to a tie for sixth at eight-under, alongside world No 1 Rory McIlroy, among others. Lee is five strokes back from leader Morgan Hoffmann (-13) who has a three-shot advantage over a trio of players who are in second.
The 24-year-old Lee opened the tournament with an even-par 72 yesterday as he was unable to hole any putts.
"Today I was hitting it just as good, and better, and making a lot of putts inside 20 feet and I ended up shooting eight-under. It was very nice," he told the PGA Tour website after his round.
"Just everything was going my way and I hit the perfect clubs every second shot. So it was just a good day."
