Kiwi golfer Richard Lee has the clubhouse lead at the New Zealand Open in Queenstown mid-way through the second round today.
Poor weather has hit both The Hills and Millbrook Resort but Lee carded a five-under 67 at The Hills today to back up his four-under 68 at Millbrook yesterday to sit at nine-under for the tournament.
The 40-year-old holds a two-shot lead over a trio of golfers, including Waikato professional Mathew Perry who fired a three-under 69 at The Hills today.
The revamped New Zealand Open, which has a pro-am format, sees each player play a round at The Hills and the nearby Millbrook Resort before the final two rounds take place at The Hills during the weekend.
Millbrook played easier yesterday but neither course will be kind for the players this afternoon considering the biting wind and rain, which has struck the deep south.
