Golf: Lee continues good form in Texas

Danny Lee's solid form on the PGA Tour has continued after he carded a three-under 66 during his third round at the AT&T Byron Nelson tournament in Texas today.

Lee's round, which included four birdies and a bogey, saw him climb to a share of 29th on the leaderboard at six-under for the week.

Rain has been a factor at the event, which has caused delays to the second and third rounds, but it hasn't held Australian Steven Bowditch back who holds the lead at 13-under. Bowditch is two strokes ahead of five players who are at 11-under.

Hamilton's Steven Alker, who fired rounds of 69 and 71, and Palmerston North's Tim Wilkinson (72 and 68), both missed the cut and were projected to drop to 182nd and 180th on the FedEx Cup standings, respectively.

Meanwhile, North Shore professional Michael Hendry is halfway through his final round at the Mizuno Open on the Japan Tour.

Hendry carded a disappointing five-over 77 yesterday as he plummeted down the leaderboard at an event which provides four spots in The Open Championship in Scotland in July for the top finishers.

Hendry was one-under after 11 holes today, which left him in a tie for 27th at four-under for the week, eight strokes back from co-leaders Scott Strange and Taichi Teshima.

At the Lanhai Open on the PGA Tour China circuit, Tauranga's Josh Geary will begin today's final round one stroke back from leader J.H Wang as the Kiwi hunts for his second win of the year.

Geary signed for a four-under 68 yesterday, which moved him to nine-under for the week, while fellow Kiwi Daniel Pearce was in fourth at five-under. Waikato's Mathew Perry was due to begin the final round in a share of 27th at two-over.

Geary leads the order of merit in China after three events and the top five players on tour at year's end will earn a card to the second-tier Web.com Tour in the US next season.
