KEY POINTS:
New Zealand amateur golfer Danny Lee has rocketed 404 places up the world rankings with his victory in the Johnnie Walker Classic in Perth yesterday.
While Lee never got a cent of the A$460,000 ($583,000) first prizemoney at The Vines because of his amateur status, he did get the winner's ranking points.
He is now 158 in the world, after being 562 a week ago.
Lee, 18, leapfrogged 2005 US Open champion Michael Campbell to slot in as No 3 New Zealander on the world list.
David Smail is No 93, Mark Brown - who won in Perth last year - is No 119, while Campbell is 199 and United States PGA Tour player Tim Wilkinson 268.
Lee left world heavyweights Anthony Kim, Camilo Villegas and Lee Westwood in his wake as he rattled in four birdies in his last six holes for a come-from-behind victory.
Villegas is in the world top 10, with Kim and Westwood just outside it.
