Kiwi golfer Danny Lee has missed the cut by one stroke at the Houston Open on the PGA Tour despite shooting a six-under 66 in his second round today.
Lee always had a lot of work to do after he opened with a three-over 75 yesterday, which put him well back in the field.
The 24-year-old tried to make up the ground and his round today included eight birdies and a double bogey as he jumped to three-under for the week.
But in a low-scoring tournament the cut line was four-under, which pushed Lee out. Fellow Kiwi Tim Wilkinson was never in the mix as rounds of 76 and 77 meant he also missed the cut.
Wilkinson, who came in to the event in 177th on the FedEx Cup standings, was projected to slide further down the pecking order, which will hurt his ability to get further starts on tour.
Lee, the best-performed Kiwi on the world's biggest golf circuit this season, was slated to drop to 49th on the FedEx Cup standings.
