New Zealand amateur Lydia Ko faces a challenge to make the cut at the LPGA Championship, after scoring a disappointing five-over par 77 in the opening round.
Ko sits ten shots back of Korean first round leader Chella Choi, and has a long way to go to if she is to claw her way back into contention in the second round tomorrow morning (NZT).
Playing the back nine first today, Ko was four over at the turn and dropped another stroke on her way home at Locust Hill Country CLub in Rochester, New York, to finish the day in a tie for 90th.
Ko made just one birdie on the par three fifth hole.
