A red-hot front nine has seen Lydia Ko leap up the leaderboard at the Taiwan Championship on the LPGA Tour today.
After opening the tournament with a three-under par 69 at the Miramar Country Club in Taipei, Ko scorched through the start of her second day to end the round in a share of third.
Ko rattled off six straight birdies, starting from the third hole, to make the turn in just 30 strokes and appear in with a crack at the record low-round of 59 on the LPGA Tour.
While Ko cooled off somewhat on the back nine, mixing two further birdies with a bogey, her seven-under day was good enough to leave the 17-year-old on 10-under for the tournament.
Ko will head into tomorrow's third round trailing leader Inbee Park of South Korea by eight strokes, with the world No 1 enjoying an even better day in recording 10-under par.
