World No 1 Lydia Ko has missed the amateur honours at the World Ladies Championship in China by two shots after carding a four over par 76 in the final round at Mission Hills Hainan's Vintage Course.
China's Jing Yan climbed from a share of 34th place to 22nd following a one-under-par 71 to finish on an even-par total and put the pressure on New Zealand's teenage star who struggled on the front nine.
Ko, who had overcome brief illness to compete in China, rallied to make three straight birdies on the back nine to get into a share of the amateur lead with Yan with two holes to play.
But as hard as she fought she gave them back on the final two holes with successive bogeys putting pay to her chances.
With rounds of 71, 71 and 76, Ko finished in a share of 28th place and will return home for a much deserved break after a long stretch of tournament golf.
