Lydia Ko collected one title this week and is in good shape to challenge for another at the halfway stage of the Lorena Ochoa Invitational golf tournament in Mexico City.
The 17-year-old was this week named LPGA Rookie of the Year - the youngest ever winner - to go with titles of youngest winner on tour and youngest millionaire in LPGA history.
She hit a second-round 69 to be in a share of third, three shots behind American Christina Kim. Fellow American Paula Creamer enjoyed the best round of the day, a seven-under 65, and was one behind the leader on nine-under.
Ko hit five birdies and two bogeys in her round and was typically solid from tee to green. She entered this weekend's tournament ranked third in the race to the CME Globe and fourth on the money list (US$1,564,962) and her streak of 40 cuts made is the best on the LPGA Tour - she's never missed a cut at an LPGA Tour event.
With just one more event in the 2014 LPGA season, Ko has a shot at claiming the US$1 million payout for the season-long points leader. She needs to finish well in Mexico and then win next weekend's CME Group Tour Championship in Florida.
