Lydia Ko has some work to do to claim a third straight Canadian Open title despite a strong outing in her second round.
Ko fired a three-under 69 to move to five-under for the tournament and a share of 19th with players still on the course.
The 17-year-old, who won the tournament twice as an amateur, sits 10 shots behind runaway leader So Yeon Ryu of South Korea who fired a six-under 66 today to match her 63 on day one.
Starting on the 10th hole, world number two Ko had a mixed start to the round with two birdies and two bogeys on the front nine. She bounced back with three birdies on the back nine to make another cut on the LPGA Tour.
Meanwhile New Zealand's Danny Lee remains in contention at the lucrative Barclays tournament on the PGA Tour.
