World No.3 Lydia Ko has come up short of making history at the year's final major, the Evian Championship in France.
The 17-year-old from carded an even-par 71 at the Evian Golf Resort in Evian-Les-Bains to finish in a share of eighth place on a four-under par total.
The LPGA Tour rookie, who was trying to become the youngest major champion in history for the last time, finished seven shots back from South Korean Hyo Joo Kim who won by one shot from Australian Karrie Webb.
Kim sank a 12-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole to win her first LPGA title and first major championship.
"This was the best nervous time ever," the 19-year-old said after her victory.
