After opening her tournament with a blazing 10-under 63, all Lydia Ko wanted from her second round at the Australian Open yesterday was consistency.
The brilliant young Kiwi knew it would be foolish to target bettering her record round at the Royal Canberra Golf Club, so instead she focused on consolidating her position among the leading pack.
"It's quite hard to beat my (first) round, so hopefully I can just play consistently," Ko told a packed media conference after the opening day.
Ko did just that, shooting a four-under 69 but slipped back into a share of second behind Colombian Mariajo Uribe, who leads the way on 15-under.
It is perhaps a measure of just how good she is that her round of four-under, which included five birdies, almost seemed like a disappointment after her headline-grabbing opening round.
