Lydia Ko has avoided missing her first cut on the LPGA Tour, putting together a second round four-under par 68 to make the cut at the Manulife LPGA Classic by two strokes.
Had Ko missed the cut, it would have marked the first time in her career that she failed to make the weekend at a pro event, but she put together a bogey-free round to move into a tie for 48th at five-under par.
Ko sits eight shots back from the leaders in a low-scoring tournament, with Norway's Suzann Pettersen and Colombia's Mariajo Uribe sharing the lead at 13-under.
Her world number one ranking spot is still potentially up for grabs; with world number two Inbee Park in a tie for 23rd at seven-under par, needing a notable finish to supplant Ko from the top spot.
On the PGA Tour, Danny Lee missed the cut at the Memorial tournament. An improved second round 70 wasn't enough to overcome his poor first-round 75, finishing two shots outside the cut line.
