New Zealand golfer Danny Lee carded a two-under par 70 to lie six shots off the pace set by Swede Johan Edfors after the first round of the Volvo Championship in Bahrain.
The Rotorua-based Lee was tied for 36th after a round that featured five birdies and three bogeys at the Colin Montgomerie-designed Royal Golf Club course.
Lee was the best placed of the three New Zealanders in the field with Mark Brown a further shot back and Michael Campbell, now ranked 795th in the world, struggled with a three-over par 75.
