KEY POINTS:
New Zealand golfer Tim Wilkinson shot a four-under par 66 during the opening round of the Wyndham Championship on the US PGA Tour today.
The Palmerston North left hander finished three shots behind the leaders Martin Laird and American Bob Heintz in an 18-way tie for 11th at the Greensboro course.
Wilkinson shot two birdies and a bogey to complete his first nine holes at one-under par and then improved his form after the turn sinking three birdies in four holes.
Fellow New Zealander, and world number one amateur, Danny Lee shot a 68 in his first start on the tour.
Lee, who also started on the 10th hole, bounced back from a bogey on his second hole to sink consecutive birdies, but followed that up with a bogey to complete his first nine holes on par.
The Rotorua 18-year-old repeated Wilkinson's success with two birdies early after the turn to finish the round in a tie for 50th.
