KEY POINTS:
The inaugural Kiwi Challenge golf event has been sanctioned by the United States PGA Tour as part of its challenge events season for the next three years.
The 11 challenge contests, which cap off the PGA Tour's regular schedule, are made-for-TV events in golf's silly season.
The Kiwi Challenge from October 27-28 at Kauri Cliffs in Northland and Cape Kidnappers in the Hawke's Bay will feature Australian Adam Scott and young American guns, Anthony Kim, Brandt Snedeker and Hunter Mahan.
Their contest will be televised by NBC on November 15 and 16.
"We are pleased to officially add the Kiwi Challenge as one of the PGA Tour's challenge events, beginning this year," the tour's co-chief operating officer Ed Moorhouse said.
The Kiwi Challenge is the brainchild of Julian Robertson, owner of both Kauri Cliffs and Cape Kidnappers.
It will feature a US$2.6 million ($3.92 million) purse with the winner taking US$1.5m.
