Tauranga's Brad Iles made a big move today after shooting a superb third round 66 in the US PGA tour school second stage at the Royal Dunes Golf Club in Arizona.
Iles surged from a share of 40th after the second round into a tie for 14th spot, carried by seven birdies and just one bogey.
At the Lake Jovita Country Club in Florida, a solid Grant Waite moved into a tie for fourth after a round of 70, putting him on 205. He earlier shot 67 and 68.
Aucklander Brad Heaven, playing at the same venue, fell into a tie for 22nd after signing for a 76. He had shot a 65 yesterday which put him 40th.
North Harbour's Mike Hendry improved two spots to 68th after a 72 today.
At the Hombre Golf Club, also in Florida, Hawke's Bay's Doug Holloway had third round 72 to move three places up into a tie for 10th
Tim Wilkinson is in a tie for fifth, recovering from yesterday's 75 to record a 69 that contained four birdies and a double bogey.
North Harbour's Josh Carmichael, with a 74, is in a tie for 52, up six spots.
Phil Tataurangi's struggles at the TPC Craig Ranch Golf Club continued with an eight-over-par 79 which tumbled him into a tie for 73rd from 57th.
