A double-bogey on the 16th hole proved costly for New Zealand golfer Brad Iles as he finished fourth in a United States Nationwide Tour event in Georgia this morning (NZT).
Chasing a win after a 65 yesterday had him third, Iles stumbled with a two over par 73 in the final round to finish fourth on a 275 total at the US$550,000 ($770,633) Athens Classic at the University of Georgia course.
This saw Iles take home US$26,400 ($36,601), US$9000 less than England's Gary Christian who finished third on 274.
Martin Piller won the event on the second-tier tour on 272 , with fellow-American Daniel Summerhays one stroke away.
It was Iles' best finish in a season in which he has missed four cuts in eight tournaments.
