KEY POINTS:
New Zealand golfer Bradley Iles is one step closer to earning a US PGA Tour card. Iles, from Tauranga, finished 25th equal after the final round in his first stage of qualifying at the Dayton Valley Golf Club in North Virginia.
With the top 26 plus ties qualifying, Iles who shot 73, 70, 67 and 73, can now contemplate stage two. Josh Geary, playing at Florence Country Club in South Carolina, fell out of contention after a four-round total of 282 - six shots off the mark required to qualify for the second stage.
Other New Zealanders - Doug Holloway, Joshua Carmichael, Michael Hendry, and US-based Brad Heaven and Doug Batty - begin their hunt for a tour card next weekend at various locations.
