New Zealand golfer Mathew Holten has finished tied for fourth in the Singapore Open amateur championship.
Holton, originally from Te Aroha and now based in Wellington, recovered from a slow start with two sub-par final rounds to finish seven shots behind winner Choo Tze Hung, of Singapore, on Sunday.
He was well off the pace at eight-over-par 148 after 36 holes but shot matching closing rounds of one-under 70 at the Singapore Island Country Club for a 72-hole total of four-over 288.
Mark Purser, of Waikato, finished 17th equal on 295 after closing rounds of 71 and 72.
Holten and Purser will join Josh Geary and Brad Iles in the New Zealand team for the Asia Pacific championship in Japan on September 20-23.
