KEY POINTS:
New Zealand golfer Doug Holloway is well placed to move through to the second stage of qualifying for the PGA Tour in the United States.
Holloway is in a share of fifth place entering the final round of his first stage qualifying event in North Carolina today.
He shot a third round of one-over-par 73 to be on three-under 213 after 54 holes at the Treyburn Country Club in Durham.
He had two birdies mixed with three bogeys in his round.
Holloway is six shots off the lead held by American Jered Gusso but more importantly five shots inside the cut line to qualify for the second stage of qualifying.
Compatriot Doug Batty will need a strong final round if he is to progress in his first stage tournament at Murrieta in California.
Batty is three shots off the cut mark.
He finished with a six-over 77 today to ease to even par after 54 holes and slip to a share of 43rd place. His round was spoiled with two double bogeys.
Another New Zealander, Brad Heaven, is on the qualifying mark in a share of 25th place after two rounds of his first stage qualifier in Valcosta, Georgia.
He shot a second round four-over 76 to be on five-over 149 after 36 holes. He was all square after eight holes but dropped four shots in his final 10 holes.
