KEY POINTS:
LOS ANGELES - Charley Hoffman clinched his maiden PGA Tour golf title in a playoff with fellow American John Rollins for the Bob Hope Classic in Palm Desert, California today.
The 30-year-old from San Diego, who eagled the par-five 18th in regulation play to complete a one-under-par 71, birdied the same hole in extra time to seal victory.
Rollins, who finished level with Hoffman on 17-under 343 in the five-round event, had to settle for second place after finding a bunker off the 18th tee on his way to a par-five.
Britain's Justin Rose, who held the outright lead for much of a windy final day in the California desert, secured third spot at 16 under after closing with a 76.
