New Zealand No 1 Michael Hendry has secured his best finish on the Japan golf tour early in the 2013 season.
The 33-year-old North Harbour professional shot rounds of 70, 68, 70 and 70 for a 10-under-par 278 total at the Gate Way To The Open Mizuno Open to claim a share of sixth place.
The two-time NZ PGA Champion was nine shots back from Australian Brendan Jones who won his place in The Open Championship by winning by three shots from South Korean Kyung-Tae Kim.
Hendry's top 10 finish continued his fine season in 2013 where he has won three titles in the NZ PGA Championship, the Fiji Open and also the Muriwai Open on The Charles Tour.
Hendry took home $42, 499 from his week in Japan and makes a massive jump on the money-list to No 57 with the top 90 players retaining their cards for the 2014 season.
