Michael Hendry has missed retaining his Indonesia Open title by one shot.
The North Harbour professional, who began the final day three shots back, enjoyed a fine early run with three birdies in the opening five holes.
But a double bogey at the par 3 7th and a triple bogey at the 9th were body blows to his chances of retaining the title.
He responded well on the back with a three under 33. His chances were promoted by a late birdie on the 17th that got him to 12 under for the tournament but he could only make par at the last and finished in a three-way tie for second.
Thailand's Thaworn Wiratchant shot a one over 73 that was good enough for him to win the title for a second time.
Hendry will rue the loss but banks $86,000 in his best finish on the 2011 One Asia Tour and climbs to sixth on the Order of Merit after five events.
Fellow Kiwi Gareth Paddison had a superb back nine of four birdies and a bogey to card a final-round 70 and finish in a tie for 10th place. The Wellington pro takes home $25,000 and is 10th on the Order of Merit. Brad Shilton had a three over 75 in the final round to finish in 64th place.
Meanwhile, in Ohio at the Chiquita Classic, Bradley Iles shot a four under 68 to finish in a tie for 14th on the Nationwide Tour.
Iles, who began the day in 22nd, climbed the leaderboard when he made four birdies in the first six holes of the back nine.
Danny Lee was also a big mover. He shot a four under 68 to climb from 38th to a share of 22nd in a round that included five birdies and a bogey.
Lee looks to be back to his best after a wrist injury with rounds of 70, 70, 67 and 68 in his return to the Nationwide Tour.
Josh Geary finished strongly with a four under 68 lifting him from a share of 46th to a tie for 33rd. Tim Wilkinson had a two under 70 to finish tied in 48th.
