Auckland's Wendy Hawkes has been the big mover among New Zealand golfers contesting the European Ladies Tour pre-qualifying school at La Manga Club in Cartagena, Murcia, Spain.
Hawkes, a professional, shot into joint 16th overall with a one-under 72 in the second round overnight after starting the day joint 28th.
Whangarei amateur Caroline Bon, joint 13th after the first round, is also among the four-strong group in joint 16th after an even par 73 put her on a total of 149.
Wellington professional Sarah Nicholson, shot a second round 76, improving on her first day's effort of 81 but remained in a tie for 51st in another group of four on 13-over par.
The field of 165 has been split into two fields and compete over the North and South courses on alternate days respectively.
There is no cut but after four rounds, the leading 70 players and ties, with 35 from each side of the course, will progress to final qualifying to contest 30 spots for full playing rights at the same venue from December 15-20.
