Auckland's Ryan Fox is the best-placed of the Kiwis after the opening round of the Western Australian Open on the PGA Tour of Australasia.
Fox carded an eight-under 64 at the Cottesloe Golf Club in Perth yesterday to sit in a share of second place, one stroke back from leader Steven Jones (Australia).
The low-scoring was a theme throughout the day, while the next best New Zealanders were Peter Lee and Mathew Perry who both began with a four-under 68 to hold a tie for 14th.
Gareth Paddison and Ben Campbell were a shot further back at three-under.
Defending champion Josh Geary had a frustrating day as he finished with a one-over 73 to sit in a share of 73rd.
