Golf: Fog spoils opening day at US Open

Heavy fog has forced officials to abandon the opening days play at the US Golf Open with more than half of the field still to complete their opening rounds.

Thick mist rolled in off the Pacific Ocean, blanketing the course in Pebble Beach, California.

World number one Tiger Woods has the lead, firing a flawless six under 65 to give him a one shot buffer over Spain's Miguel Angel Jiminez.

Michael Campbell, the best of the Kiwis, is six shots behind Woods after an even par 71.

However the news for Frank Nobilo is not so good, he is struggling at 3 over par after completing 6 holes.
