Fire has destroyed the Melbourne home of the parents of professional golfer Aaron Baddeley.
Country Fire Authority (CFA) crews found 90 per cent of the brick veneer Wonga Park home ablaze when they arrived at the scene around 1.45am (AEDT) on Wednesday.
Wonga Park CFA captain Kingsley Allen said 10 trucks and 50 firefighters took an hour to bring the fire under control.
"The fire was well and truly burning out through the roof when we arrived," Mr Allen said.
"We're awaiting fire investigation crews to arrive at first light this morning, but we suspect at this stage it started in the loungeroom.
"Maybe a gas log fire.
"There's nothing to indicate the fire was suspicious.''
A 60-year-old male occupant of the home was taken to Maroondah Hospital with serious burns to his foot.
Mr Allen estimated the damage bill to be around $800,000.
"We were able to save numerous items of sporting memorabilia, multiple sets of golf clubs, trophies, photos and awards."
