PONTE VEDRA BEACH - A 36-year-old American attending the second round of The Players Championship has been subdued by a Taser.
Travis Parmelee has been charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest without violence.
Course marshals notified the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office that Parmelee was yelling at players on Friday and being belligerent near the 11th hole.
Capt. Dave Messenger says officers responded and attempted to calm Parmelee down, but says he became more combative.
Officers tried to take Parmelee into custody, but he resisted and was Tasered once. Messenger says Parmelee had been drinking.
The arrest comes four days after a Philadelphia police officer used a stun gun on a teenager dashing through the outfield during a Phillies baseball game at Citizens Bank Park.
