It was Groundhog Day in the Auckland women's golf final at Pakuranga yesterday: Da Som Lee beat Jane Lee 4 and 3, matching the result at Remuera last year.
The 16-year-old Da Som, a weekly boarder at St Peter's in Cambridge, was four up at the turn on her home course and was one under the card when the match finished. She has been a New Zealand representative and was unlucky not to make the team of three for the Espirito Santo world amateur in South Africa.
Jane, 15, plays at Akarana but lives on the North Shore and attends Westlake Girls' High. She has been runner-up in this championship for three years losing the 2004 final at Middlemore to Northlander Haeji Kang.
